CSP Auditions for
this season are on
March 15 and 16, 2025.

Learn about our program!
Center Stage Productions was founded in 2022, powered by Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture. Currently, we are in the process of auditioning for our 2025 summer season! We give youth in the Yuba-Sutter area the opportunity to perform in professional-quality musical theatre productions! As we enter our fourth season, we hope you will consider supporting our program in any way you are able, including auditioning, volunteering, becoming a season sponsor, or just coming to see the shows! Make sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook @centerstageproductions.ys to stay updated on how to support youth in the performing arts in the Yuba-Sutter community!
Audition
Requirements
All auditioning students must follow these guidelines to audition for the CSP 2025 Season. Visit our FAQs for questions about auditioning!
-
Age. Participants must be between age 7 and age 17 on the audition date. If the student is 18 but still currently enrolled in high school, they may audition.
-
Materials. Auditioning students must bring both an 8x10 headshot (color or black and white is acceptable) and a typed, printed resume stating prior experience in the performing arts. For more info on preparing a headshot and resume for an audition, visit our New to Musical Theatre page!
-
Song. One 32-measure cut (about 60 seconds) of an age-appropriate musical theatre song should be prepared to perform for the directing team. It is acceptable for you to perform a cut of a song from one of the shows in our 2025 lineup, if you choose to do so. Please bring a device with a background/karaoke/instrumental track to accompany you during your audition. We do not require a monologue to be performed at your audition.
-
Register. Every individual must sign up to audition. There is a simple form attached to registration sign-ups so we can learn a bit about you before we meet! Please ensure your registration form is entirely completed and submitted by Tuesday, March 11th. There is no guarantee that students who do not sign up will be able to audition.
If this is your first audition, make sure to attend our Workshop on March 1st to get more info on the process and to ask any questions you may have!

And that's all you need to prepare for our auditions! Keep reading for information about how our audition process works!
The Audition
Process
Auditions for our 2025 Season will be held at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts (754 Plumas Street, Yuba City). All students should arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to their registered time slot to ensure check-in proceeds on-schedule.
Check-In
Upon arriving at the theater, students will need to check in with our Interns. You will have some paperwork to complete. Please be prepared to give us any expected conflicts throughout the summer, specifically Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through June and July, as well as the last full weekend of July and first three weekends of August. If an adult guardian is unavailable before their student's audition, ensure the student comes prepared with these dates.
Preparing for the Audition Room
One of our Interns will be paired with the student to help them feel ready, escort them into the audition room, greet them afterwards, and give further information following the audition. The student should be prepared to slate (introduce themself) when they enter the audition room, including their name, age, and the song they will be performing. Make sure to have your accompaniment music cued up on whatever device will be taken into the audition room. The Intern will take the student's headshot, resume, and music device into the audition room.
In the Audition Room
Their designated Intern will walk the student into the room and connect their accompaniment device to our sound system, then leave the student to perform. Only the student will be allowed in the audition room (i.e. no parents or guardians may be present). The student will slate and perform for the director panel in the audition room. After they perform, they will collect their device and return to the lobby. If your audition exceeds the approximate 60-second time limit, the directing team may cut you off early, and that's okay! It has nothing to do with the quality of your audition. Simply, in order to stay on schedule, we have to enforce this restriction, and we appreciate your understanding!
After the Audition
Congratulations! You did it! Please wait with your designated Intern and do not leave the theater until you receive additional information. Your Intern will provide you with a small card noting whether or not you are being asked to a callback. Not all participants will receive a callback, and that's okay! It does not determine your placement in one of our shows this season. Callbacks will be on Sunday, March 30th.
